An Overview of the Rules and Features
DJ Wild sets the scene with an intro video of a bustling stadium filling up with people while the sun sets on Miami. The animations, which certainly have room for improvement, will sync to the beat of the soundtrack through a DMX controller. The game was built to be played on your mobile but will work on your desktop just as well. Aaaand that’s about everything positive we have to say about this slot. The five-reel, three-row structure is fine, but the symbols and bonus game totally let us down after the big fancy build up of the intro video. The symbols include four relevant pieces of equipment like a turntable and headphones, all lit with the tacky gel light colours you had at your first school disco. Unforgivably, the others are made up of disco ball versions of the classic slot symbols – fruit! There are two wild symbols to look out for, the first, named after the game itself, is rather plain. Spinning one of these will trigger the Respin Bonus Game i.e. you will get a free spin. The Jackpot Wild features a silhouette of a man in headphones holding his arms wide likes he’s God’s gift, surrounded by laser lights. Spin him in the centre reel and he will give you a very nice Jackpot of 50,000 coins.

Alright, we liked the occasional surprise pyrotechnics and occasional big win, but our high hopes for this game were sadly not met. The time and energy ELK Studios normally put into its games is present, but seems to have all gone into that intro. Not being the greatest fans of electronic music, perhaps we’re just not the target audience. While DJ Wild’s high volatility can lead to some big payouts if you have the patience, we think you’re better of checking out the developer’s other excellent games like Wild Toro. One last thing we’ll comment on is the info page, we normally enjoy the Meta data facts at the bottom but found “Most DJs are male, and the DJ world is a man’s world with only 24% of DJs being female.” a little sexist for our tastes.
