Booty Time – March of the Mediocre
There’s no shortage of pirate-themed slots out there (hell, Microgaming alone has several), but there’s a severe lack of pirate-themed slots that are actually good. Is this one the magic charm that breaks the spell?

Format and Basic Rules
Alas, the answer to the question in the opening is “no”. This is an excruciatingly basic slot (and I never thought I’d have to use a word as powerful as “excruciating” to describe something so plain) that doesn’t really offer a whole lot of value to its players. The symbols are annoyingly generic, there’s no music (just some chimes when you spin), and to add insult to injury, while the bets are low, the payouts – while frequent – are offensively small. One thing I kind of liked was the bonus feature. Whenever you get three scatters, you get to select one of them, which will give you a different number between 1 and 5. That number represents the amount of chests you get to open in the next round in order to claim your booty, and in each chest is hiding either a number of free spins, a multiplier or both. The number of choices gives you a bit more agency, which is always nice, but when the rest of the game is so dull and bland, it’s too little too late.

Conclusion – Not Enough Booty
Unfortunately, “Booty Time” doesn’t even come close to being a satisfying slot experience. Sure, its bonus feature is sort of interesting and a single step above the standard, but everything else is so far down below it that it’s not even worth it. I personally haven’t seen a single pirate slot that was actually really, really good, and this one is actually below even its contemporaries in terms of sheer quality. It’s honestly a bit insulting how little creativity went into it, doubly so because of how small (albeit frequent) the winnings are. If you want to play a slot that charges you as little as one coin per spin, then I guess this one will do as good a job at any. If you have one or two coins left that you just need to get rid of somehow, then you could do worse than “Booty Time”… But at the same time, you could also do a lot better. It’s honestly a bit disappointing how a slot that’s supposed to offer you riches ends up giving you so little.
